Our Story
Since its founding in Seattle in 1978 by Tom Campion as a single store called “Above the Belt,” Zumiez has grown into a global destination connecting young people with the products, brands, and lifestyles that help them individuate. What began as a spot in the mall for action sports has evolved into a broader platform for self-expression and creativity.
Today, Zumiez serves a generation defined by diverse passions; from skateboarding and snowboarding to other communities in music, gaming, art, streetwear,content creation, and more. With over 700+ stores across North America and Europe, Zumiez continues to create spaces where young people can discover new interests, connect with like-minded individuals, and express their identity through style and culture.

The Zumiez Foundation
The Zumiez Foundation exists to support and empower young people by investing in communities and organizations that create opportunities for growth, connection, and positive impact. Through charitable giving, partnerships, and employee involvement, the Foundation has made a meaningful difference by donating $14.1million in cold weather clothing and accessories, supporting over 200 agencies, and positively impactingover75,000 peoplesince 2005.
Our commitment extends beyond retail. We believe in helping young people build confidence, develop skills, and access opportunities that enable them to thrive, strengthening the communities we serve along the way.

Events & Community
Community has always been at the heart of Zumiez. Through events, partnerships, experiences, and grassroots activations, we bring people together around shared interests and passions.
From iconic programs like Zumiez Couch Tour, Zumiez Presents series, and Zumiez Best Foot Forward (the world’s largest amateur skate contest, which helped launch the careers of skaters like Jamie Foy and Dashawn Jordan) to new initiatives like More Than Rolling, we continue to evolve how we show up for our communities.
