Independent Trucks have been a staple in the world of skateboarding since 1978, and continue to pave the way of what's to come in skateboard truck technology. Originally founded in Santa Cruz, California by Richard Novak and Jay Shiurman, along with the late Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson, today Independent trucks are manufactured in San Francisco, California through Ermico Enterprises. Independent was born out of necessity, because, according to many at the time (in the late 1970's), the only skateboard trucks on the market either didn't last or didn't turn well or quick enough, so Independent was created with the explicit intention of providing a skateboard truck that was not only dependable but could also perform to the demanding expectations of the early slew of professional skaters. Today, Independent Trucks remains as one of the most popular truck companies on the market, with a cult following of supporters that include a massive team of both professional and amateur skaters across the globe, and legions of fans. Some folks may not skate, but proudly wear and endorse the iconic Independent line of clothing and accessories that boast the Independent cross logo, which takes its inspiration from the "Alisee" cross. The current Independent Trucks team consists of skateboarding super pros and legends Danny Way, Jim Greco, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Ryan Sheckler and Eric Koston, amongst others.
